Unlocking eLockers with Clipper

You can use your Clipper card as a key to unlock eLocker spaces at select BikeLink locations in Alameda, Berkeley, Hayward, Oakland, as well as at SMART stations in Marin and Sonoma and the WETA Ferry Terminal in Richmond. Bike Link eLockers that can be accessed with Clipper have a Clipper logo on the access pad. BikeLink lockers at BART and San Francisco locations currently do not accept Clipper cards for entry. Your Clipper card can be used to access eLockers at stations served by Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor.

Tip: BikeLink’s location map can be modified to show only the locations that allow access with Clipper. Go to the mapOpens in new window and choose “Park with Clipper Card”.

Linking with BikeLink

You need to have a BikeLink profile to link your Clipper card. If you are creating a new BikeLink account, simply provide your Clipper card serial number (found on the back of your card). If you already are a BikeLink member, add your Clipper card serial number by logging into your BikeLink account. Navigate to the left-hand side and click the “link Transit Card” button and follow the instructions. Learn how to link your Clipper card and your BikeLink accountOpens in new window.

Your Clipper account can’t be used to pay for BikeLink. Your Clipper card is an electronic key that unlocks the eLocker. When you establish your Clipper card as a key, you must add at least $5 to your BikeLink online account. Bike locker fees are deducted only from your BikeLink account. In fact, you don’t even need value on your Clipper card to use it with your BikeLink membership. To learn more about how it works, visit BikeLinkOpens in new window.

Tips:
  • If your Clipper card gets blocked for any reason, you can still use it to unlock a BikeLink eLocker, as long as your BikeLink account is in good standing.
  • If you need to replace your Clipper card for any reason, you’ll have to provide BikeLink with your new Clipper card serial number.
  • If you lose your Clipper card and your bike is in an eLocker, you can request a lost card code that will allow you to access your bike. Read more at BikeLink’s FAQ pageOpens in new window.
