Paying with Clipper

Dumbarton Express accepts the following on a Clipper card:

  • Cash value: For single rides. Clipper customers get a discount of 25 cents for adults and 13 cents for youth, senior and disabled riders on all local routes.

    After you spend the daily maximum on rides on AC Transit and Dumbarton Express local rides ($5 for adults and $2.50 for youth, senior and disabled riders), all local rides for the rest of the day are free on both services.

  • AC Transit transbay 31-day pass: Unlimited transbay and local rides for adults for 31 days. Learn more about managing 31-day passes.

  • AC Transit Local 31-day pass: Unlimited local rides for adults and youth for 31 days. Learn more about managing 31-day passes.

  • AC Transit Monthly pass: Unlimited local rides for seniors and disabled riders for one calendar month. Available 10 days before start of month through 15th of month. Valid first three days of following month.

Note: You can also pay for Dumbarton Express trips with the AC Transit EasyPass.

Upgrades: Monthly and 31-day pass customers can use cash value on Clipper to upgrade to the transbay fare.

AC Transit transferring to Dumbarton Express
Free ride on any route within 2 hours of boarding an AC Transit transbay bus. Discounted ride on a transbay route within 2 hours of boarding an AC Transit local bus.
BART transferring to Dumbarton Express
Discount of 50 cents on a local ride within 90 minutes of exiting BART.
Caltrain transferring to Dumbarton Express
Free local ride or discounted transbay ride within 2 hours of tagging off Caltrain when using a Caltrain monthly pass with 2 or more zones.
SamTrans transferring to Dumbarton Express
Free local ride or discounted transbay ride within 2 hours of boarding SamTrans when using a SamTrans monthly pass.
Union City Transit transferring to Dumbarton Express
Free local ride or discounted transbay ride within 90 minutes of boarding Union City Transit.
VTA transferring to Dumbarton Express
Free local ride or discounted transbay ride within 150 minutes of boarding VTA when using a VTA monthly pass or SmartPass.
